Has anybody tried these two units side by side to see which is better. I know its all a matter of taste, but i'd like to hear some opinions....

As far as it being covered, the only ones offering up opinions were you, Fishmed, and Magicman. Since you are an asshole, Im throwing out your opinion. Fishmed's opinion is sacred on this board,in my opinion,so i'll honor it, and Magicman only has a few posts but im sure he is ok....
So, if anyone ELSE has an opinion on this topic, Id like to hear it...

A little touchy are we ? Well I at least am still interested in this subject matter .
I put the Pod 2.0 and the J Station side by side and liked both of them . They each had good points and not too many bad ones . The decision was made for me by the Stations 2 bass amp models and the acoustic models . Since I play bass on my own stuff . I also found it for $275 while the Pod was going for $349 , your prices may vary . Happy hunting .

Mind me asking where you found it for $275? The cheapest I've seen it so far is $299.
A friend of mine just bought a POD and it sounded great when we recorded with it last weekend, but I didn't get a chance to try running my bass through it yet. I couldn't pick out the real amps if you blindfolded me and played them, so I can't judge how well it models them. However it sounds great when you record with it, which to me is slightly more important than being able to fool the experts.
I only A/B'd the POD and J-station briefly a few weeks ago, but I think I'm leaning toward the J-station a) since I already have access to a POD and buying a J-station would give us more options for recording, and b) since one unit appears to do well for both guitar AND bass (so I can be cheap and only buy one unit). I play acoustic when needed so I'm not too interested in the J-station's acoustic models.
Anyway, could you post a follow up in a few weeks or a month? I'd love to see how you like it after using it for a while. I know everyone loves the POD, even for bass (I posted that question here about a month ago), so I'm curious to see how the competition stacks up before I buy.

8th street has j station 289.00, no shipping no tax....im leaning towards it but still havent made up my mind...

West LA Music , I walked in , told them Guitar Centers price and they said of course we can beat it , and they did .That price is not advertised and was probably OK'd by a manager but they are willing to beat GC on a case by case basis . I'll let you know how it works in the long run , I just moved last weekend and still haven't found the J Station I know it's around here somewhere . I also have a classical and a steel string but the acoustic models are just another interesting facet that the pod didn't have .

I started the last J-Station discussion and am still interested in how it sounds etc. I had ordered one,but canceled after I traded for a Lexicon MPX-G2 and just got a floorboard for it on Ebay. The Lexicon is in a class by itself as far as features and price but I tend
to get fustrated with little editing LED screens etc.. I may play with it awhile and then sell it and get a J-Station and a good mic or maybe a POD Pro and Antares Mic Modeler.....................................
