I opted to save $250 and get the moonshaped unit instead of the rack one. As far as I can tell, the only difference is all the various types of i/o's on back of the racked one. Is that what makes the difference?
My plan is to to use the L/R outs and send them sereo to my recorder. How much better would the other one be? Also--Is it important to use balanced cables with the POD's 1/4 inch jacks?

  • The pro (rack) is 24 bit (the other is 20 bit)
  • The Pro has S/PDIF out, with wordclock
  • The pro looks cooler
  • Yes, you want to run balanced out

It's not moon-shaped, it's bean-shaped or kidney-shaped (or kidney bean-shaped).

I got two little cables that are TRS to XLR that I use with the kidney bean. Love it.

Thank you Chuck! Beat me to it...:(

How dare he call it moon shaped! Hmph!

I believe that the idea is for it to be shaped like a POD.

And what is a POD shaped like?

A bean, or a kidney, or a kidney bean...

I rest my case.
