Folks,
I need to audition for a band. I have a POD pro, so I like to know any recommendations on how to connect the POD pro to a PA or Amp. Any advise on what I should buy with regard to an amp? If I want to connect my POD to an Amp what is the best anyone recommends? Ofcourse I will have to bypass the effects of the amp and instead use my POD effects. I am just looking for something to get my sound out as accurately as possible.

Some of you already must have experience with this, hence I am asking for advise.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to connect to a PA just use the line outs and connect to some line inputs on the mixer or PA head.

How much do you want to spend on an amp? If you can get a real tube amp then get a good amp and leave the Pod at home for practice.

Tex,
Thanks. I am willing to spend $400.00. However I still want to use my POD through it though....

Why would you spend $400 on an amp, only to use the POD through it? Makes no sense.

Kind of like spending $400 on hooker, only to . . .

. . . never mind. :D

OK everyone!
I just got back from GC. I tried out the Fender Cyber. It's sounding pretty good to me....

I also tried a FLEXTONE II head. They are selling it for only $399.00. But I like the Fender twin better...

OK I am going to look at the tech21 now....let the suggestion keep coming.

Thanks :)

Wide awake!
This is exactly what I was looking for. Is there anything else you can tell me about this? THis does have a built in 60W amplifier right? I can go and get one tomorrow! It's priced at a reasonable $299.00 :)

This post makes no sense. What's wrong with using the Pod for an effects pedal? My Dad plays live a couple times a week and he loves the options having a Pod in his rig can give him.

Makes perfect sense.

A POD is not the effects unit I'd choose as a front end on my amp. I guess if you're already used to the thing, and comfortable with its settings then you can mostly eliminate the learning curve associated with a different (was tempted really bad to say better) processor.

A pod through a traditional guitar amp sounds really bad... I have tried mine through many good amps, just for kicks.

best bet is to use the PA and give yourself a good monitor send - use an aux send and feed a clean power amp to a stage wedge, and send some to the rest of the band as well in the overall monitor mix. This works really well - big sound, well dispersed and comfortable levels for everyone.

Or use a flextone. I think buying a separate amp for the pod is a waste of cash. Flextone II's go on ebay for around 400 - then you can leave your pod racked up and ready in your studio.

peace.

If you want to look like you have a POD clue, get a 4 space road rack. You can use any power amplifier that bridges to 8 ohms mono. I use a Carver PM125, but a Samson Servo 120 or a used Hafler will work, if it's bridgeable, then to a cab. Use live mode (cab model disengaged). When you have a few more bucks, add the pedal board. The POD will sound much better through a clean power amp than a guitar amp.-Richie

P.S.- Make sure it's an 8 ohm cab, and that the power amp can be bridged to 8 ohms.

Hmmm...I almost bought a Tech21 PW60. But GC does not carry them, neither do any stores in IL. They all say they can order it. So I was about to order it on www.samedaymusic.com These guys have excellent shipping charges/terms) when I read Lotus's and Richard's comments.

Richard, the Tech21 PW60 is also a tranparent amp. I am still deciding...

A transparent amp is exactly what you want. Any amp with color will make the sound worse.

If you're gonna spen 300 on a tech 21, why not just pony up a little extra and get a flextone? It would be way more comvenient, have more connectivity, and save wear and tear on your pod pro.

Besides, you'll probably want a gig rack for the pro and that's extra cash.

Everyone,
After some thought I have bought a FLEXTONE III amp. I got a good deal at GC. The Flextone III has everything the POD has, so I am going to sell the POD pro. I appreciate everyones advise.

My POD PRO is 18 months old. If anyone is interested let me know. It's in brand new condition, so scratches, dings etc.

Thanks!

You should post that up on the equipment for sale forum.-Richie
