I am thinking of getting a POD pro. I am trying to find out the differeence between smaller POD2.0 and the pro. Does anyone know what's the major difference between the 2 is? iKnow the price is twice. I played on it at guitarcenter. No one could give me a good explanation as to why it's different. Will this gadget really ehance my home studio recroding for my guitar?

Is there anything better in terms of Rack effects? Anything from Rocktron? I am looking for some really neat sounds...like sounds that are used in "YES" "big generator album" or something similar. Nice and rich and warm. It should be readily puggable into my PC.
I will appreciate the suggestions. Thanks ;)

Go to the line 6 website

just a quick thought,
The SOUND of POD and POD PRO are identical.
Try www.line6.com

I have songs that have used either, POD PRO, SansampGT2, KorgG1, or a Digitech2112. If you want to hear how any of these sound, I'll give you a link to a tune that used them.

Sabbath yes please do provide the links. I am totally dumb when it comes to guitar effects. I was too poor all these years to buy good models. Also it needs to be easily pluggable into my PC.
Thanks :D

amt,
I'm not sure how you record, but pod pro is the only one I mentioned with spdif out. I record everything through the analog outs into a digital recorder, not a computer, so I cant really comment about the computer end, just the sound. I would assume you would either use adapters, or if you have a decent sound card that accepts 1/4 inch. This probably didn't help then. At least I can tell you that PodPro and kidney pod can get the same sound because I had both for experimental purposes, then I returned kidney because I wanted the rack. The line 6 website lists the other differences.

I have tunes in the mixing clinic if you want to check anything out.

Theres a song called "cruise" and that is all Pod Pro. There are 2 others with P.P. also. I usually always use it for solos, but not always for rhythms.

hehe, down a few doors. You got here by clicking"the rack."
It is lower on the same page......... "MP3 mixing clinic." you should check it out because when you hear someone with a good sound, you can just ask them what they used. Though I'm not sure what connection you have.

I have got a M-audio OMNI/delta66 sound card. It has a built in pe-amp for guitars. So i need a nice effects system for my guitar. I am not sure if I should get something with S/PDIF outs so I can send them into my sound card directly. I am also using SONAR.
Thanks!

When I said connection, I meant dial up, cable, etc. I wasn't sure if it was easy for you to listen to stuff without long d.l. times.

But heres the link, www.nowhereradio.com/samij/singles or www.mp3.com/samicide If you want to know what I used on anything, just give a shout.

I'm sure I was no help at all, but I tried.

Hey that sounded very nice (cruise). So you used the POD pro for that. The music seemed a nice blend of stuff. I liked that start part the best. Are you using MIDI for other insturments or a real band?

cool, thx.

that was pod pro and a whammy pedal. the drums were just different preset drumbeats from an Alesis sr-16 drum machine.
The keyboards were an Alesis QS6.1 and also a Roland JV 10-10.
Basically considered to be garbage to a lot of people around here.
I recorded it with a Tascam 788 before I knew how to use it properly. I've since replaced the drum machine with a Roland td-8 and drum pads.

I like the pod pro for certain things, but when I need a Triple Rectifierish sound, I'll use the Sansamp sometimes. The KorgG1 is cool too, it was used by Dimebag Darell from Pantera on a song called "Floods." The Digiteh2112 is mainly for clean and freakish effects.

Did you check the line 6 website?

Cool!
I too got a JV1010. That I got recently. So I will use that as my drum machine too. Have you got a ebtech level shifter for that 1010 yet? or are you somehow managing the outputs of the JV1010? The outputs are low and if you attempt to incease the volume the noise will also increase. The level shifter is supposed to solve this problem. I need to get one soon.

Have you tried anyof the high end rack effects yet? Like Rocktron?

I did visit the line6 website. The only difference between the POD2 and POD pro is that the PRO has a 24 bit converter compared to the POD2 20 bit. Also the pro has S/PDIF outs. These are great for sound card direct ins into PC.

Unfortunately the first intro organ was the Alesis, but the piano, high outro voices, and nylon string sound were all the JV 10-10.
That "ebtech level shifter?" Never heard of it. I boost the levels with a compressor, without adding compression, just boosting the levels through it. Never heard the Rocktron but I hear it's good. Some of the patches on the JV 10-10 can sound a bit low and noisy but I found the better sounds to be on the expansion boards. Theres a tune on the page called "first passing," and some peole thought the begining was a nylon string guitar when in fact it was a stock program on the JV.

cool
