Well, I did a search, but nothing came up much, as nothing often does.

Here's the deal, and you can save me anywhere from $12 to about $100 Singapore.

What's the real difference between the Pod 2.0 and the Pod XT? The local prices bear a ratio of 2:3. That means the XT is half again as expensive as the cheaper 2.0.

The salesman was hopeless. Aftering filtering, he seemed to be saying that that the chief differnence between tweaking the 2,0 and the XT was that the XT had a bit more control over the attack/sustaind/decay paramters of the effects.

Huh? Is that all?

They're completely different. XT is based around the chipset and modeling processes used in the Vetta amps, and Pod 2.0 is based on, well, Pod. The differences in features... XT allows you to use multiple effects (a compressor, "stomp box," modulation effect, and delay) for each sound. It includes much more options in the reverb department as well, and a USB output connector that will function as a direct digital recording output, though the software isn't ready yet. It also allows you to switch between about 20 cabinets and 4 different mic settings. Again, these are just the differences. I have both, and I don't use my Pod 2 anymore. The differences in sound are somewhat like the following.

Pod 2 has a narrower bandwidth, a more seemingly compressed and even sound, and less tweakability. That is, even within an "amp" sound, it's pretty hard to get much variation. It's easy to fit Pod 2 sounds into a mix because they sound smooth. Pod 2 is better for people who want to plug in and play, and have a decent sound right off the bat.

Pod XT is more like a real amp. It plays more realistically, and is much more touch-sensitive and volume-knob sensitive. It's possible to get fantastic sounds out of it. It's also possible to get disgusting, nasty sounds. In that way it's much more like a real amp and speakers. Pod xt will give you a decent sound right off the bat for sure, but it will really floor you if you sit down and play with the knobs, cabinets, and mic settings for one amp model for about an hour or two. In the end, I no longer feel like I have to say I used an amp modeler when I use the xt, because I don't think anyone can tell.

could u post some samples please?

I don't own XT, but from the brief playing around I did, it seemed like the same thing with more lights, a few extra connections, and a phaser..

Sure, tell me what kind of samples you want to hear and I'll make them up tonight and post them.
Please be specific though. People keep asking me (on another forum) to post something "good"... that's not specific enough. For example, is there a certain kind of distortion (light, heavy, thin, phat) you want to hear, or specific amp models or effects, etc...

It's definitely NOT the same thing. Ask anyone who owns both--no one will tell you they are anywhere near the same thing. In fact, a lot of people who've owned both complain that it's so different... in most cases, the same amp models sound light years apart on the two Pods.

Charger, me and DarkCide are both Digitech Genesis 3 users and we both truly believe that the Genesis 3 kicks the Pod's (2.0) ass.

I'd like to hear some Soldano and JCM800 sounds, some 80's rock/metal stuff. Also, I'd like to hear a 60's surf sound (with slap back echo and tons of spring reverb), and some cool blues sounds (from clean with an edge to Gary Moore...)

There are some of my Genesis 3 creations. I'm particulary proud of JCM800 and Speedy Ray. Also the short song "Lightning Warrior" sounds good to me, if you are into Dokken, that is... ;)

Anyway, let's hear some shredding, moaning and surfin'. :)

There are two pods I know of - the 2.0 and the XT. The XT is more powerful than the 2.0 I've never heard of a 2.3.
