warble - dont know that this helps but every person ive talked to
with matrox cards seems to be happy. i dont know what matrox did , but it seems they dont conflict with audio apps like other cards. for example ati.

Thanks manning. I've been looking into the Matrox line today! I really only need crisp 2D that's more latency friendly and the dual-head thing is looking more and more interesting to me.

Sorry Secret Clubhous, sorry to keep talking about Matrox cards. Hopefully you can get the issue sorted out. I'd try unplugging it, then doing an uninstall. Then reinstall again. Jim's been providing some pretty solid advice.

polaris. maybe you know usb internals better than i.
but if the 122 is usb 1 thats the old usb protocol right ?
but he is running on usb2. which i assume will default to usb1 right ?
so - slower - right ?
question polaris - on your pc's you ran 122 on fine did you have any other usb devices connected at the same time ?
i'm beginning to wonder if it isnt a luck of the draw thing.
some systems the 122 works fine on and others it doesnt ?

Well yeah it defaults to 1.1, but it should still work. On the machines I've had it running on, there's only one USB device on that particular bus.

Maybe I'm just lucky, I don't know. Aardvark says it doesn't recommend Via chipsets, yet they really haven't updated anything in a long time. Heck, they didn't release XP drivers for what, a year after XP was out?

I am sticking with Echo. They support their drivers.

out of interest polaris ive been looking at echo for another machine here.
could you elaborate what echo product you have, and how your using it.
thanks.

I've already tried the uninstall/reinstall thing several times now over the past months & I still get constant crashes. Couldn't find Tascam's uninstall utility on their disk, maybe I don't know where to look. Anyone?

I used the XP uninstall utility instead & then reinstalled from the disk. It gave me a mesg. about the driver being in another language & I told it go ahead & install anyway. Don't know what that's about.

So Jim, are you saying that the AMD VIA KM chipset should not be a problem?

what I don't get is why it works fine for a while & then unexpectedly crashes. I've never had any other problems w/the Tascam--no latency or noise, etc. This intermittent stuff is crazy-making. Doing a complete XP reinstall is a nightmare. And when I first installed the US122 Windows was clean & no other apps were installed cuz it was a brand-new machine.

Echo Mia, Behringer UB series mixer, and Adobe Audition + Reason 2.5 + Oxygen 8 midi controller + POD XT 2.0.

Athlon 2500+ @ 3200+, 1gig Crucial DDR, Asus A7V600 Deluxe (KT600). Replaced a KT133a board. Wife's computer is a Asus A7V8X-MX (KM400). Have ran the card (also 122 too, for testing) on KT266, KT333, and KT400. I build computers for work and friends.

A friend runs the 122 currently, with the Asus A7V333-x, 512MB DDR, and Athlon 2100+, successfully with CEP2.1.
