Plugins that don't show up?

I have installed some plugins that don't seem to show up in my programs. The plugins are definitely installed and in the right directory. They also don't show up in DXMan. For example, Albino is one, it's installed but doesn't show up in programs or DXMan. The Korg Legacy collection is another one. These things ain't cheap and tech support is a PITA, can anyone explain this to me, and perhaps explain the different types of plugins and which programs use them? I know that there are DirectX and VST plugins, I have been choosing both when I install them. I've spent all the money on software that I want to spend for a long time, I wanted to have some quality plugins besides the generic ones that shipped with my software. Now I need to become proficient at using it. I was able to install most of my plugins without problems, but some do not seem to show up although I installed them in the same location and manner as the rest.
