Plu-In Control?????

I have been using either a Korg Karma or a KAWAI MP9000 as my midi controllers for both modules and plug-ins. For the most part, there is no problem with the modules and between these two keyboards, I have alll of the feels I like and much more control than I can even use. Nevertheless, when it comes to controlling plug-ins, I am having difficulty. So I wonder, since when I use a plug-in, it is generally to play a specific part that rarely is beyond two octaves, would a small midi controller make controlling plug-ins easier and would they then work better anyway. Would the control functions be easier to operate and would it be easier to assign vaarious controllers switches or knobs or whatever...

The question has become what "was" the diffculty...Essentially, it was this, the Native Instruments B4 program has an adjustable Leslie simultor that you can switch between fast and slow, much like a real Leslie. The control for this should have been the modulation wheel, however, the function was not responding to the wheel. There was something in the midi set-up w indow for the B4 program that allowed you to check off controller changes or program changes. I assumed that since I was attempting to use a "conroller", I should check off the controller filter function. This simply woul dnot produce the desired result and I could not adjust the Leslie from the keybaord while playing. (I you have every played a Hammond, you know how important this particulat function is for the overall authentic sound). To make a long story not quite so long, I then checked off program change out of curisity and sure enough, the modulation controller now adjusts the built in Leslie simulator.
