i need help converting cakewalk files to .mp3 or .wav?

You need to be more specific about which version of Cakewalk you are working with.
In CWPA 9, all you need do is to have your project loaded (.wrk file) in Cakewalk. Make sure that you Archive any track that you DO NOT want included in the mix. Then go to Tools Menu and select Mixdown Audio -> Export to File(s).
From there you will get a window which allows you to give the new file a name and to select the File Type (.wav, .MP3, or even Real Audio). Once you have selected the file type, click the Export button and you'll have your file.

don't forget to convert midi tracks (if you use them) to audio first. Record them as audio in a new track one at the time...
