Hi There,
I am so confused & really need some guidance. Due to a major back injury leaving me disabled, my passion for singing has taken me from ever singing in a live-band, to online karaoke (my major form of entertainment). The Karaoke Sites I sing on are live-stream & all the sound is picked up through my Mic/Speakers via Adobe Flash Player. The sites do not have any effects features, such as; Reverb, Echo, etc. Other singers on these sites add their own effects in real time, but I get a different or vague reply when I ask how they achieve this.
What I am trying to accomplish is a Studio-Like Sound Mix with Vocal Effects. I am singing from my HP Pavilion Laptop, a fairly newer model but it's lacking in plug-in connections & the sound card isn't the best at all.
My budget is skimpy... i have to keep my set-up at around $150. Some people on the karaoke sites tell me they use Mixers that they have purchased for approx $69, altho they leave it at that - not telling me the brand name, or, type of mixer. One of the female singers said she simply uses an older model Stand-Alone Karaoke Machine, she places a Rockband USB Mic in-between 2 desktop speakers, but sings thru the Mic that came with the karaoke machine... the USB Rockband Mic connected to her computer is what picks up both her vocals & speaker sounds ....feeding the sound into the Flash Player. Her mix sounds decent even tho she only has an echo effect. Her method would work for me, I guess (i just don't trust the cheap build of karaoke machines unless high end, which i can't afford). Plus, I would like to have more of a studio quality sound mix, which others achieve by using mixers ((which types i don't know))
I'm not savvy when it comes to equipment but I have looked at some Behringer Mixer Boards, also a Behringer Minimix Mix800 Karaoke Mixer, which has Echo, Reverb & Sound Shaping ---- which would also require my buying their USB Audio Interface, in order to be able to hook it up to my laptop. I've also looked at some USB Vocal Mixers made by DJ Tech, but have no clue what type of mixer I actually need for what i'm seeking to accomplish???
As it stands now, my voice is in the raw - singing with no effects whatsever. I want to achieve that studio sound + effects that so many others on these sites have achieved by using the right equip. When i say i need to stay in the 150. range, I mean i need a mixer under 100. as I also need to buy a pair of inexpensive speakers, another Mic (presently I'm using a Samson Co1u which is usb)., and pop filter.
What do you suggest I look for to purchase that won't break my budget (a little over 150. is ok).... just a better sound mix quality & basic vocal effects is all i'm after....all of which must be done via my laptop? Sorry this got so long winded, and hope how i've explained this makes sense. I am just totally worn out from this quest i've been on to find the correct mixer & i guess a usb audio interface needed. This is probably very simplistic to those who know what they are doing when it comes to this type of thing, lol.
I appreciate any/all of your help in advance ~ Keya
