I picked "need more info" It's a good idea, but I still think I'd make my decision based upon money involved. If it was a free subscription, for sure... if something cheap like $5.99 a month or so to maintain maintenance on the site or so, I might do it if it's good enough. For example, I like the idea of having a collection of samples/loops in one place, rather than having to search around.. which I gave up on a long time ago. Also, the collabs are always fun around here, it gives people the opportunity to expand or lend their talents... or say for me example, I don't have a piano and if I'm dying to have a piano in the song it'd be neat to be able to fill in what you can't do.

Anyway, I'd say this is a good idea, but a great idea if you could get the advertising or so to make it free. That'd really expand on the number of people who could and would use it.

I'm actually making something like this.

It's a huge project and won't be done for awhile though, see:

www.getmyim.com - Just started, site looks like crap and most stuff doesn't work.

The instant messenger will come with a collaboration feature for musicians. The cost will be free because it will use no almost no server bandwidth. All musicians working on a project will be connected to each other, and all file transfers will be direct (peer to peer).

It will also have the ability to convert one session type to another, ie: Reaper to Sonar, Cubase to Reaper, etc.

It will otherwise function as an instant messenger like AIM, MSN, or Yahoo! but with a lot more features.

If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me or post here. I'm not exactly what it is you're asking.
