please help...monitor dilemma and no space!

hi everybody

ok heres the story,ive been recording/mixing for 15 years or so...then i got pissed off and sold all my gear 18 months ago....but i recently got back into it....

i cant help myself!

ok here's the problem...iv'e now only got a 77cm desk space in a tiny cupboard including my 19 inch monitor,which leaves about 16 cm either side...mounted in corners
i would be happy with a 19 cm wide monitor as ive got wall mounts which increases the possible width slightly,a front ported monitor is preferable but rear ported is cool if i can dampen it down with a cut (or a sock)

right now im using behringer monitor 1cs which quite frankly are a bit shit but i'm getting by...
i write pop music for publishers so the mixes have to be good but not release quality,but i want to enjoy my writing and have fun
i want really transparent monitors..with not overpowering hyped bass
i have no shop to hear any monitors where i live so here's my shortlist from the hours of trawling the net..

my budget is 300 gbp

behringer 1030a
krk rp5g2
fostex pm 0.4 or 0.5s(had the pm 0.5s,liked them but would prefer a change)
yamaha hs50m (had ns10s not a huge fan)
alesis 520

ive got the cash now and its starting to do my head in......

i guess it was just years of frustration,i kinda lost my passion for it and the stuff i was producing was crap,also i did some dance remixes which had to be release quality and i wasn't happy with them ,i spent too long fixing stupid little eq's and not enough time on the tunes ..the label didn't like them and i hit a depression....
so i thought,why am i putting myself through this again and i gave up...and to make sure i didnt get back into it again i sold all my gear.
but that 18 months off has been great...i know what i want to do now
,im writing with my old partner again and we have access to exellent session vocalists who just take a 3rd of the song royalties instead of cash,
i write the instrumental ,my partner writes the lyrics,session vocalist records the lyrics and sends me the vocals back and i mix it , all done over the internet
so i'm happy again

No meaningful help here, but I did pick up a set of demo Yamaha HS50M a few months ago at the local Guitar Center for cheap.

I use them as a second set of monitors to "acid test" a mix - it's been ages since I heard NS10s, but I can say that the HS50s are more versatile - you can make them flatter with adjustments (but I won't do that because of how I'm using them) - I can't say whether they can exactly emulate a NS10 - I'm thinking no.

If you can get a good price on them, I think they're a good value.

thanks for that man,you were reading my mind
i read that you can switch a -2db in the midrange to make them behave more like normal monitors,the ns10s harshness annoyed me after a few hours.
the hs50s are pretty much top of my list ,but right now im bidding on a pair of genelec 8020s on ebay,
if i dont win(6 days to go)i think i will go with the yamahas

any thoughts on the 8020s?

they are the right size and freq response for my tiny setup just like the yamahas
