Hi, i have a question, but i don´t know if it posible to do what I want, first, sorry for my english, I´m from Argentina.
I play guitar, i want to know if there is posible with cool edit or other software to take a mp3 o any music file and equalize it and try to eliminate the guitar on that song, or to put it in a lower sound, but only the guitar.
I hope you could understand my problem and gave me a good answer.

no, that's basically impossible unless there is some point of the choon where the guitar is playing allmost on its own.. if you play guitar yourself, then y do you need to do that anyway?

Hey Chriss, boca
Sounds like boca might be tring to get some music he can play guitar with.
Why don't you get a recorder and track yourself and then go back and play with yourself. Does that sound right. He, he.
I do this all the time boca. If anything it will help your playing and timing and is just fun.

Methinks Boca is looking for karoake guitar, a tune with the guitar part taken out so he can play it.

I doubt you can do it with software. There is a product named the Thompson vocal eliminator that claims it can do it with vocals. I doubt it works well.

However, you could buy a cd of a band, without the guitar part ,playing popular songs. http://www.musicminusone.com/ this is mainly for classical music, but it is in theory what you want ( I think). You can buy a CD of the Beethoven Violin Concerto, with the violin part left out, so you can play it with an orchestra. I am sure there are CDs out there for rock/pop done the same way

i think u should download midi files for yor favorite bands and then play them with the cakewalk and mute the guitar channel.

I second the MIDI idea!
Unless you wanna make friend of Rob Cavallo, seduct him and persuade him to make a mix for you from the original tracks used for mixing ;)

Por cierto, yo soy de Colombia!
Pero si tengo que escojer boca o river, RIVER! jajaja
