Please help me.

For the past however many years I've used Cubase, it's been an absolute nightmare. One of the main problems I have is that when I reformat my hard-drive (Windows), it forgets which instruments went for which plugin, I assume because with the new windows install, it isn't where it expected it. For example, even though Sample Tank (an orchestral suite) is installed, it will say now when I open my projects 'instrument missing,' and when I go to Sample Tank, everything is blank, let's say I was using oboe 1. Now none of my selection is there. This is incredibly annoying, because it ruins my mix, and I have to select the instrument fresh, and start all over again.

My other problem (albeit many other minor ones) is that I keep getting an annoying 'bing' or beeping sound every five seconds.

Anyways. Is there anyway I can get my Cubase to the way it was before, without the missing instruments etc? The missing instrument dialog doesn't give me an option to select an instrument.

Thanks.

Curious, did you actually pay for Cubase? Why the hell would you 'reformat' your hard drive, and expect presets to be existing? Would you not have to install the crack version of Cubase again?

The 'bing' is your conscience telling you that you are a thief.

I hope I am wrong here.

If not, enjoy your bing and beeps...

Hey, thanks for the jovial reply, friend! Not.

My Cubase is a cd I got from an audio interface that was included. Why do I have to reformat my hard-drive? Hmm. Let's see... Since I don't have the capital to upgrade, and since I am doing pretty extreme and massive audio recordings, my computer seems to slow down every few months or give me a BSOD. Sorry that we peons have to 'reformat,' while mister royalty here has some sort of smooth Alienware comp or whatever.

Anyways, why would my presets be there..? Well, let's see. The same program with the same presets was reinstalled on the reformatted hard-drive. In other words, NOTHING HAS CHANGED, except for directories. Sorry that Cubase can't figure this out.

Last of all, I'm going to get polemical here. To call anyone a thief in our society is a form of bourgeoisie insecurity. Why? Because thieves wouldn't exist if we didn't have a system based on money. Artists wouldn't have to sacrifice their integrity to make the thousands of dollars required for these programs, so that they could make fine art. How many great art pieces have been lost because a musician cannot afford a studio, or the program to bring out their beauty?

So, to close, while I am using Cubase LE from a legit purchase, I condone anyway of creating art, even if that goes against your moral goody-two shoedness.

If you want to help me, so that I can create my masterwork, please do. If not, then you are just another brick in the wall..

Theft in a recognizable form predates money by half a billion years at least.

The beeping sound is probably telling you the software is in unregistered demo mode. We may have jumped to conclusions but it's common for people with pirated software to come here to solve their problems which would be better solved by paying for what they use.

I don't know about your trouble with reformatting. Perhaps some sort of drive imaging software would be a better way to get all your stuff back the way it was.

throwing up your hands and reformatting every time your computer slows down is not a solution.
you need to find out what the problem is. sounds like you need some windows tech help.

sampletank directories can be moved and changed via the sampletank preferences pointing to the library menu.
look around online, it's a simple thing. i've done it myself when i moved mine to a dedicated samples drive.

Civilization hasn't existed for 1/1000th of that time, and to actually make that claim you'd have to observe as a god the last 500 million years. Theft only happens because people are desperate, not because they are bad, or 'wrong'. Wrong doesn't exist. Not to mention the concept of theft has only existed so far as human language has, which is less than 30,000 years. The people who work for these companies usually make 60,000 a year plus, while most genuine artists are below the poverty line.

I don't think you understand the shape my computer is in. Defragmenting etc isn't going to solve the problems.

Anyways, sample tank is pointed to the right folders, with the presets all loaded, but when I open my projects I get the message, 'Attenzione Instrument is missing'. I think I'll just have to point all of the sample tank channels to new instruments once again.

Are you admitting that you're using a cracked version? If you are, I suggest you look elsewhere for the answers to your questions as everyone here detests thieves and people who rationalize thievery. I guess what I'm saying is this, "Take your thieving, rationalizing, and dishonest ass, down the road!" Cheers.:cursing:

Sorry, but theft also happens when people are too lazy to work for what they want, also people that make 60,000 a year plus just may have spent loads of money on degrees, have massive student loans to pay back, to get to the level they are. I know people that spend tons of money on useless arts degrees then complain because they wait tables for a living. Thanks

Ah, the moral police. If you are below the poverty line, you still are working a full-time job, or part-time etc. The thing about artists, though, is that they aren't worried about degrees or loans, what they are worried about is ART.

Laziness also does not exist, it is simply a term used by the social police to denote those who will not accept the status quo, or who refuse to submit themselves to a life of burden and spiritual rape.

I find it hilarious how the guy who is backing up capitalism has a Ramones profile pic. I mean, can't expect much from a mainstream punk band, but still the punk ethos was against office jobs, paying for things, industries, property et al et al.

OK, this will be my last reply and once again I will be respectful. your statement of laziness does not exist is a cartoon. If "artist" as you put it choose a path in life that does not allow them to supply the most basic needs for themselves then they are fools. So per your logic, if an artist lives below the poverty line it is up to people that actually work for a living to provide for their needs? as to my profile pic, it is of a horse I actually own, he lives on 20 acres that I also own. I feed him in a barn that, wait for it.......that I built with funds, wait for it......that I earned....wait....from my JOB. My company does not pay me 6 figures because I sit around and whine about something I do not have, I actually have to work. Good luck on your masterpiece.

In that case, why are you asking for help? Why haven't you simply gone out and stolen yourself a new computer?

If someone is working minimum wage full-time or part-time they can barely pay for the essentials: food, shelter, transportation, but they are still providing for themselves. You are talking about welfare, and yes, it is up to a proper society to redistribute wealth to those less fortunate: ie socialism. Whining? I am simply talking about economic systems.

And yet your work is completely meaningless beyond just a grind that every other person does (It does not contribute anything to civilization). Whereas someone like Leonardo Da Vinci who could actually work on art, not work at an office job to put a few hours in on his masterpieces on the weekend, belived in a society that believed in the right of artists to exist free of a monetary system, or free of a rat race.

Also, it's quite disgusting that you say you own another living creature, ie: slavery. But I guess you're proud about that?

I have my cats pulling plows and putting a new roof on my house. Not slavery but cheap labor. One bowl of kibble per day. I can't hire an illegal for that!
