Please help I’m dying to make music!

Hello all. I’m incredibly frustrated and barely know what I’m doing. For starters I have a boss rc 500 looping station, an old Juno d synthesizer, a peavey amp that I had for my guitar that’s just a basic one without any effects and I recently bought a scarlet solo audio interface at guitar center. I’m about as clueless as they come. I’m lucky I got the synth, looping station and amp hooked up to play and record some songs. I’m trying to tie it all in together and have downloaded pro tools first and connect everything to start really recording songs and saving them to files I can upload to social media and maybe listen to like a real artist creates. I got the audio interface, a mio midi cable and bought a new laptop with the necessary system requirements to do it all. I keep getting error messages when I try to run pro tools and will include pictures attached to this. I’m not sure pro tools was downloaded correctly and I’m sure I have it all hooked up wrong. I will be forever grateful to anyone that can help me get this going. Please help!
-ryan

Hi.....and welcome...and trust me.....we understand your frustration. For starters....it's not clear how you have the entire setup actually connected. So....before you get too far you need to get your interface and DAW (Protools) working and then connect other things from there. Just connect your interface to your computer.....be sure you've downloaded all needed drivers for your system and get them installed. You need to be sure to follow the user instructions in your manual if you want to stand any chance of getting the setup correct. As soon as your interface connection is ok....then you'll need to open protools and have your DAW recognize that properly and have your computer use that as a sound card device. For that......you'll need to follow with your protools user manual. Then....using your guitar....just get something on a track to be sure that setup works. Once you're there....then you can begin to add things.

The learning curve for what you're trying to do is not terrible....but not easy by any means. It will take some reading and time before you'll feel comfortable. Don't get discouraged. We can help you for sure and we'll ask questions as we go.

A midi controller to play on is recommended. It will map what you play on the screen and play VSt instruments. Many are free.

Does the Solo have a midi input?
or
Does the Juno D have a USB?

Thank you both for the replies. I’ll attach pics to the problems I’m having. Laser, I’m attaching the mio midi cable to my USB port on the laptop because there is no way to attach it to the audio interface. I have no idea what needs to get connected to what I was thinking as long as it’s all connected to each other that it would somehow work and maybe that’s one of the problems. See pics for what I mean

Thanks mickster. I believe I have installed pro tools first correctly and now followed what you said to just connect the scarlet and get pro tools and that working. I start a project and get a new error message now which I’ll include in pics

Does the Solo have a midi input?
or
Does the Juno D have a USB?
Do you also mean that my synth needs to be an actual midi one instead of the Juno by the term “controller”?

Is the Solo Asio selected in the DAW? This will bring Juno sound into the ch1.
then..
Is the USB-Midi adapter found in the DAW devices menu? This will bring midi information to use VST instead.

How to check it? Look if it has midi jacks. I see none. Are you?

If you are trying to input the JUno's sound outputs, yes it needs to be connected to the interface.

You can play music on a Juno, as a midi controller. Using a VST with your adapter.

Then an interface would not be required. No solo.

You got two ways to do it that I see. One has to work out, right?

Is there another cable that you are aware of that needs to be bought to connect the synth to the interface or do I need a different interface ?

Not sure how to verify that. See pics and please let me know. Like I said I’m clueless lol

What options ya got for input device and output device?

Check options tab. look for a setting menu.

I use reaper, anybody know this menu in protools?

If I change the playback engine it does this see pics
