Hi everyone

I'd appreciate you giving this a listen. I'm very much a noob, and I don't have any expensive gear - just a Zoom all in one recorder and an SP B1.

I've only written and recorded about ten songs. I like this one, but I'd be interested to hear your comments on the song, and how I can improve the recording.

I'm not fishing for a pat on the back - just an honest appraisal.

Cheers

I actually really like the song. The guitar sounds a touch crunchy to me, but you were probably going for that.

Love the vocals.

Sorry,
I twice recieved a server error when tried the link.

Yeah it does that sometimes - a problem with the host.

I'd appreciate it if you'd try again - it works more often than not.

Cheers

I like it. I wanted to hear more short licks from the lead guitar (that did a lick at 1:28) during the first couple minutes to break up the repetitive 4-to-a-bar rhythm guitar chunking. And that rhythm guitar tone is a little piercing. Nice guitar solo at 2:20, and the next guitar sound (after the solo ends at 2:52) gives a richness to the arrangement. I'd bring up the vocal a bit after 2:52.

Thanks for your comments. I was wondering about the vox when the extra guitar stuff comes in. I'll increase them a bit there.

This is pretty much my take on this as well. Its a good song, reminds me of Gilbert O Sullivan. You have to be over 40 to know who that is. :D Its fun, I like the piano glissando.

Gilbert O'Sullivan ! I certainly remember him. I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted.

I'll settle on flattered, I guess.

Thanks for listening and commenting.

Alone Again (Naturally) was a huge hit for him.....

Good job on this tune....

...

sounds pretty cool. for some reason, I like it even more knowing it was done with a little zoom. it sounds like a nicer production than I thought the zoom could do. nice job. great vox - how were they recorded (mic, preamp type [or none], external compressor, etc?)

Thanks Greendank

The vox were done in my tiny spare room, sung into an SP B1 straight into the zoom. Just added a bit of reverb and chorus.

Sadly it's not me singing - I wrote the song, played all the instruments (apart from the drums), and the singer in my band recorded the vocals.

He's got a good, powerful voice. He sings stuff like old Stones songs brilliantly.

I loved Gilbert O Sullivan, take it as a compliment. He also sang "Claire" which was a big hit, and "Whats in a Kiss".
