The drums are thin and distant sounding. The kick will need a lot more thump for this genre, and the hihat a little more panning. The toms have almost no presence. Might be the reverb or overhead mic'ing used.

The vocals need some chorus/reverb/compression to give them more body.

Guitar tone is okay though, once bass is added and the mix is mastered they will probably be fine as-is.

This is metal fwiw (and really it sounds like a Metallica clone band), not alt rock. ;)

Thanks for the feedback! Still like our song even if it is very Metallica like. At the end of the day, you will always be close or compared to someone with a similar sound!

The main problem is that it's quite dry, it's like a 1990s mix, I'm used to hearing much more reverb, that's the first thing...

The other problems are I'm listening thinking where is the bass guitar? I can't hear it enough for my tastes, and the vocals need to be much more compressed, I would also add a sample to the kick drum that adds a clicky aggressive sound to the kick drum, most metal kick drums sound much more agressive and have more 3-5kHz. Hope this helps mate,

regards,

Ben.
