I recorded and mixed this for a friend.

It was all done at home in my bedroom.

It's an easy listening / pop / gospel song.

Any constructive critisicm would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

That's nice! A great tune, and some imaginative arranging...good elements.

The gal singing....I want to marry her.

The intro is 30 seconds long...and betrays to eventual dynamic build that you use later....and just not interesting enough to hold the ear of a pop song listener. I think you should keep the opening 4 measures only and get into her singin'.

The saturated strings are loud and over-applied. Disunity in the virtual 'space' with the difference in verbs.

The snare sample needs some tub added.....very stark. And I think the drums could back up a little....the voice is the huge feature...pump that. Gold. And put clothespins on her ear lobes, next time she sings for you when the choruses happen. A little urgency would put it over the top.

One of the things I'd love to hear is more attack on the bass part, and slightly-distorted electric guitars L&R iin the big parts. There's a lot of overhead available for impactful dynamic build without the strings smothering stuff...all the verb. The guitars are very light and clean even into the big choruses. I'm thinking distortion and attack for build and contrast. Rock out. Grit. Pump. Pound that message into the ears and heart of the listener...make 'em breathe deep and get water in their eyes. A lot of potential in this tune, and this voice.

Did I mention how much I love the singer?

With some patient remix, editing, and kicking choruses up an notch with amp modeling on the guitars...this is a Christian radio playlist candidate. No doubt in my mind. Applause to the composer and arranger.

A gifted singer. She really nailed my attention, and made me want to listen...

Same old caveat: I don't know much....just what I'd do if it were put to me to refine.

wow! (and sorry she's already happily married with a few kids...)

thanks Jeff...Really helpful stuff. You may not know much... but sounds like you know alot more than me :)

I will try the clothes pins lol, she comes from a strict classical singing background, and I ran o
ut of ideas to get that urgency pretty early on.. :)

She came to me with some ideas and I did most of the composing/arranging, so I am getting a bit sick of working with the song. I might have work on some other stuff before I come back to it to keep from going crazy.

thanks heaps.

hey sorry about that.. I don't know what happened..

here's a different link

I really like the song, and I have to second the singing! Really nice. But the whole track seems a little thin sounding. I think that the drums and bass could come up a bit. I am not really sure where to point to, as I am listening on headphones right now.
