Please comment on this trial of Highway star

Recorded through Focusrite Scarlett2i2 and Audio Technica 2035 for vocal. Line 6 GX for guitars and bass.

Sounds like you had fun!
The vocal needs something to support it a bit, it's not very strong compared to the guitars / bass / drums. Have you thought about double tracking the vocal part?

Thank you cobaltaudio Ya definitely I was enjoying doing this one of my all time favorite songs. I will do doubling the vocals. Doubling vocal doesn't mean the duplicating just the track right?

Doubling normally means you sing the vocal twice on different tracks without varying too much from the original. It can be difficult....especially on a song like Highway Star. Great job by the way!! Short of that......you could raise the main vocal up a bit and then add some spot harmonies, which also fatten up the sound. Everything else sounds really cool man. Haven't heard that song in a while. It was one of my favorites for along time.

Overall I think it sounds pretty good, except I'm not a fan of the rhythm guitar's tone, it sounds overly distorted compared to the original. But the original was pretty much perfect, so that's not really a fair comparison

I totally dig the vocals, they capture the feel of the original song but aren't quite a carbon copy.
