Hi - I'm loving the forum! been having a read of what you people are discussing and it's good!

I've been trying to find out what this 70's mic is - I'm sure it's a well known model but I can't find it anywhere - looks a bit like an Electro Voice..,

Any help gratefully received!

btw it's the average white band playing on the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1973 - some more views of the mic here:

Still looking but no joy yet  I had thought it might be the EV RE-16 but the shaft is too thick. It seems weird to me that a mic that was used extensively on the tv during the 70's should be so hard to find...

Thanks for any clues from you good people!

Still no luck! I'll post back if I find anything as this seems to be a hard one to find...

Thanks :)

the wind screen reminds me of some akg mics... the vid was cool... i never knew awb did that tune... i only knew the jazz crusaders (larry carlton) which i think is the original...

Yes - I think the AWB version is a pretty decent attempt and really funks it up! Thanks for the heads up on the akg - I'll have a look around

Almost certainly it is an AKG C28. They were fairly standard kit at the BBC during this period.

Many thanks to you good people - apparently these were the mics used by the Beatles on their rooftop performance! now... where do I get one!!
