Hi, a friend gave me a copy of Cakewalk 2002. So I plugged something in my Line In jack and recorded something using my cheap soundcard that came with my computer AC'97. Well I got it to record but the recording isn't coming out clear. The levels are fine and all it's just the result of recording isn't coming out right. Even when I imported a wav file that's Ok the playback still sounds messed up. I'm just wondering what could be causing any wav file to sound bad. I've recorded with other software and have had no problems ie. N Track.

Thanks

I dont mean to trail off topic but can you tell me what driver you are using?

Is the .wav file at the same resolution as the project, say 24 bit 44.1 khz?

Did the sound card profiler run upon start up?
Did you shut off all background programs?

Cakewalk is a more resource intensive program, but is well worth the hassle of tweaking till it performs correctly.
I think get2sammyb might be onto something,if we could have a little more system information maybe we could get you rolling.

Oh, it's working fine now. I guess I bypassed the card profiler the first time. I ran in it again and it's working fine now.

Thanks for your help guys.
