That sort of depends on the room...
But where NOT to put it is fairly easy -
1) Never into a corner.
2) Never in the dead-center between any two walls (and obviously, never in the center of the room).

In front of the singer usually works best for me. Where to place the singer depends on the room and other sound sources in the room.

Eh, use the .38 rule for a start. .38 in from both walls in this case, projecting away from the corner on a soft angle along the long wall. Adjust as necessary.
