pitch correctors???

Yeah, I still can't believe just how much off key singing Bernard Sumner from New Order could get away with in their early days and still sound absolutely awesome - my friend even suggested once that he was doing it on purpose for that indifferent/cool factor. And since you mentioned David Lee Roth, I'm listening to "Fair Warning" at this very moment and I was just thinking to myself ten minutes ago, "DAMN that guy knew how to sing".
 
Celemony Melodyne is much better than Autotune in my opinion....find a demo of that and give it a shot..

i use cubase le 4so if yah no how to do it form there help me out!!

After you install it, start reading the help file to learn how to use it.
 
G-snap is just a plugin. You can't use it on it's own.

Download Reaper. It is a free DAW that can use G-snap.




Or better yet don't and stop letting the guy sing. :D
 
There is an excellent DVD out called "the ZEN of screaming" vocal instruction for a new breed by Melissa Cross. I highly recommend you have him watch it,..it is a good exercise for any type of singing,..not just screaming as the title states. I've seen progress in a couple associates over the past couple years. I can't recommend it enough. Do yourself and your band a favor,..get it.:D

Jokes aside though, if this guy is a shitty guitarist, that may not be such a problem if his grade of shittiness is on the scale of 'correctable'. I regard myself as a shitty guitarist but I know the basics and can keep playing for a couple of hours without stopping and having everyone throw up {or chuck knives} !
The singing is a different matter though. Whether rightly or wrongly, it's probably the primary focus of most people that are not musicians, at least initially, and you are not being fair to any audience you may be trying to attract if the singer can't sing. Occasionally off key isn't the end of the world as we know it, Jim, and even the great ones do that.

People get the mindset that singing = correct pitch.

For me though good singing is exactly that. Even average singing is that. Hit the note, otherwise you may as well drop bum notes everywhere, play out of time and sequence and just not bother. Richie is right, you should constantly tape your singer and make him listen to it. I used to do that and I improved as a singer and so did all of us that sang. Getting gadgets to try to improve a voice of someone that can't sing and isn't willing to learn and try to improve is not only not doing them any good, it's like buying an automatic car for a blind man to drive coz he won't get on the bus.

Agree. Hands down (IMO/E) Melodyne is the best tool for not only correcting pitch but it fixes timing issues as well. It aint free but it is worth the money.

I also agree that if the overall performance sucks, even Melodyne won't help. you'll just end up with vocals that is in key but still suck.
