Been off this site awhile, but not idle. Finally got this one wrapped up.

Lead guitar is the American Standard Strat you see as my avatar. All else is from a Roland JV1010 hard synth.

Recording and mixing by ProTools LE via the Digidesign Mbox.

Probably should have added, constructive comments are welcomed.

Please consider, I am a very part-time amateur/hobbyist. Attached are a couple pics of my current set-up.

You need to find a better way to share your mp3s. THat site sucks. :( Try soundclick.

Your setup is VERY similiar to mine. I have the JV1010, it can do a lot for the small price. I have outgrown mine and cant wait to get something else. I have KRK monitors as well.

OK, I finally got it to work. :D

Sounds fine. The drums need work, they sound distant and are too simple. They are really holding this back, I would rather hear no drums than these. The rest is fine, the patches sound pretty good. Some have too much latency ( i.e. the attack is too slow). Guitar sounds fine.

Overall, very nice. Fix the drums and you will be much happier.

At work.. Can't listen.. What song is being covered?

That was a nice nine+ minutes of Floydishious enjoyment :D Nice playing on the keyboards and guitar. That is a monster piece and you did a great job.

The drums, as DavidK said, do take a way a bit form the performance. Wonder what this would sound like with a live drummer? Since you have a steady track already down, maybe you could get a collaborator to record a separate drum track, then remix - just a thought.....

I am impressed with the rest though - you did a great job.....

:D :) :D :)

Thanks for the feedback folks, and sorry for any problems with the link. Other folks I emailed it to are also having trouble. I also can't access data-streaming sites from here at work where they are blocked, so will try later to post on soundclick and get back to this post if that works.

Interesting comments on the drums. I'm using as a template the live recording from the PULSE album, from which I have tried to follow all the parts as closely as possible. Maybe that version's drums are simplified from the original studio version?

My primary interest is as a guitarist, with the rest intended as back-up support (but always ends up taking on way too much of a life of its own). So I appreciate hearing that my feeble attempt to emulate the great David Gilmour is at-least acceptable. Certainly want the entire production to sound as good as possible though.

Thanks again, and I'll try to get this onto soundclick.
