pickup question

Hello all. I have a stock 1985 American Standard Strat and I am wondering if the middle p/u is reverse polarity?

Also, I am in process of putting old pickguard with two single coils and a stk (stack duncan hb) and tbx style wiring, into another strat and I notice that I have two "extra" ground wires that have attached ring washers attached on them, where do these go? They terminate in the pot housing with the other ground wires from the tbx pot and the volume control. Oops, now it looks like I have 4 ground wires! One looks like a jumper from one pot houisng to the next......hmm. Seems to me that the extras were stuck in there to tie all pot housings together so if that is the case, would you not connect all 4 to the sleeve of the input jack?? Thanks. Be well all.
 
Huh, I figured somebody would have replied by now. I'm no expert, but to determine if your middle pickup has reversed (magnetic) polarity, you might try this.

I've never seen a guitar where all the grounds weren't connected. I'd connect them all to the sleeve.
 
I would guess not, but try this; is it quieter in the "in-between" positions (2 and 4)? Then the middle pickup is probably reverse wound/reverse polarity (it's got to be both, or you end up with your pickups out of "phase", which is fine if that is what you want, but sucks for most people).
