I had the one with the battery fitted in the back of my truck. Much more compact..

I can guarantee you, that if I give my bass player Jimmy, an old teisco solid state amp, and a first act six string guitar, he will sound better than me with my American strat and vintage Fender Super Reverb. Tone, comes from within, all the new gadgets etc won't help you at all if you don't have what it takes.

Magnatones were very nice amps. Mostly, though, they were used by organ and accordion players. They sounded very good with archtop electric guitars also -- not so much so with the solid bodies.
