Another brick in the wall
My band needs a logo, but we're stumped as to what I could be. If anyone here is good at making logos and could offer some help I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you have an idea as to what it could be, it would be very welcome. Our website is http://www.watersignrising.com . I just launched it a few days ago, so there's not much up right now, but you can get the idea of what we're about I hope. Thanks alot, I hope someone can help me out!

I might know someone, altho it will not be free (he just started his own little company) , he has a designing company, but he can explain all to you when you contact him.

Just drop him a mail at: info@jaaahdesign.nl
(website isn't up yet)

Hope it works out.

What type of music do you play? What's the "theme" of your band or what do you want the "perception" of the band to be?

I've been using Photoshop since version 1.0 (Ok yeah ... I'm OLD :P )

Send me some pics of the band members and stuff (Preferably individual shots... like from chest up... ) And I'll play around with it... I'll do up 3-4 ideas for the cover, if you like it use it (Just mention me somewhere in credits)

I used to use photoshop but have found paintshop pro 7 to be more user friendly and I can use the same plugins. Email me with at least an Idea and I will see what I can do. I did the logo on my IUMA site.(click my www button at the bottom) I will soon develope my own site again as time permits. Its hard to develope and record music at the same time......

Thanks for the responses, but I don't believe we'll need your help, at lest just yet. The guitarist and I are going to spend some time just working on logo ideas, and I'm sure between us we can think of something. I'm also fairly proficent with photoshop, and have a bunch of plugins. I'll keep ya updated though!

#1: Dont use Photoshop.

If you use a vector-art program like Illustrator or Freehand, your logo can be blown up from postage-stamp to super-billboard size with no loss in quality.

(Ever see jaggy edges on the sides of objects in a resized photo? That where the pixels are being blown up into blocks. With a vector-program, those lines are ALWAYS as sharp as razors.)

Also more useable when you go from print to t-shirst, laser engravers, posters, advertising, etc.

FYI: Photoshop 7.0 fully supports vector and pixel graphics... and is a lot more powerful for manipulating images in my opinion.

Illustrator is cool too... but i find it a lot harder to achieve results with. I am sure though that this is a result of my ineptitude (sp?) with the product...

just my $0.02

Actually I use both Photoshop 7 & Illustrator....

I find Illustrator allows me to do more interesting things with the fonts ... then I just copy/paste it into my Photoshop piece...

Awesome, I didn't know about vectors, glad you brought that up. I'm checking out photoshop 7 and seeing if I can use it on some stuff I've made already. The website is www.watersignrising.com we're still doing work on it, it's only been up for a week maybe. Any comments would be welcome. The biggest problem I can see for it so far is loading time, but I'm trying to get that a bit better.
