And I agree, trying to take shot of shiny gear is tough to accomplish without specialized lighting, diffusers and infinity backdrops, which are normally the tools found in a professional photography studio, so kudos for making the effort and coming up with reasonably good shots that I can make look like they were taken in a proper studio thanks to Photoshop.

How's about a TEAC 80-8, with noise reduction unit?

This machine was first owned by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, then by me. I fantasize that Bernstein might have used it personally. The manual has copious notes in the margins by the orchestra guys who were trying to figure out how to use it.

There's a TASCAM Wallpaper thread here that I started back in 2009 and its on the same page as this thread, a couple of threads down. If you go back to the opening post of this thread, there's a link to it as well.

About the 80-8, there is already an 80-8 in that thread but not one of it with the DX-8. So if you wanted to take some shots of yours following the shooting guidelines that were outlined at the start of this thread, please do!

I finally took some photos of both the 3340 and the AN-300, the camera is crap, it keeps trying to bend the image when I get close enough to take a good shot, however I will send them to you if you want, how do I send you large image files?

Question:

The width on the AN-300, is it the same as the 3340 minus the wood side panels? I ask because I was thinking of doing a render of the two of them with the 3340 sitting on top of the NR unit and want the proportioning to be accurate.

I can't remember, I think it is a bit narrower but as you said it may only be the side panels, if I get a chance tonight I will measure them.

Once upon a time I did a fair bit of photo assisting and even some modeling at car and motorcycle magazines. The studio had a built in seemless background that wrapped around two walls which they would paint different colors and sometimes patterns. Dulling spray was used copiously to deal with highlights on the shiny new paint. I think I would hesitate to spray vintage audio gear with that stuff.

Still off by around half an inch or a bit more, so the stacking idea would come out looking weird on top of the un-natural perspective anomalies. So I think I'll just do a dedicated AN-300 wallpaper and post that up shortly.

The 3340 was not made to sit on top of the AN300. I had them racked on some custom rack shelves that I had made up which is why the 3340 has no feet, they are around somewhere.
