Philistine in Record Dilemma

Hello to one and all,

I have been recording on Tascam gear for years,
and since Reason, have happily fused the sequencers via MIDI into the portastudio and later added Bass , Guitars and Vocals on top of that.
With the release of Record, I take it there is a shift in technique, no longer will I have to record all the sequencer stuff in real time over to the Tascam, but record the bass into the stuff already sequenced in Reason.
My question is......what is the best way of getting a clean Bass signal to Record via the Tascam 2488 Neo, and more importantly, good enough to use as a pre amp, or shall I buy a proper usb audio interface with zero latency ?.

Any advice would be appreciated.
