I have not had time to test this inquiery myself so i am posting it. For a dynamic mic plugged to a good PA board would you get better sound (live or recorded) with phantom on or off? I've been working with it on and it sounds fine but have not had time to test.

with phantom power on, there SHOULD be no problems with running dynamic mics, ever. However, i have heard stories about problems, especially with older gear. sometimes things dont work as they should anymore, and there can be problems with noise and hum and stuff.....probably from capicitors leaking.... anyways back to your question, there should not be problems. It will sound the same

only use phantom power when needed beause it may possibly damage electircal components in the mic but otherewise it dose not affect quality of recording

running the phantom power on a dynamic mic does not help the sound at all...unless you have to have to phantom power on for condensers, turn it off...its not worth running the risk of having a faulty cable or something and blowing up a dynamic.......
