Phantom via TRS??

Could someone please answer this question? "Does phantom power work with TRS?"

The reason I ask? I have a Behringer Ultragain Pro and a Neutrik balanced patch bay. The Behringer has XLR and TRS inputs/ouputs on the BACK. So, to make life easy, I ran the Behringer through the patchbay. I picked up a TRS to XLR cable for my Rode NT-1 and it isn't working. I bought the NT-1 used and pray I didn't get a lemon.

The configuration seems fine with my SM-58 and 57. So, it appears my NT-1 isn't getting the phantom power.

Please help...

I haven't used phantom powered mics (yet) but I tend to think that it would require XLR connections to work.

Okay. I found a few references stating clearly that phantom power can be used over TRS. Problem solved, right? WRONG! In reading the Behringer manual (in more detail) when using the mic preamp the TRS jacks are DISABLED! DOH!

So, I have to get XLRM to 1/4" TRS and go the patchbay in that manner. At least I still get to patch it instead of running cables behind my rack.

Sometimes we learn the hard way :-)
