Phantom S & X compatability issue?

I am in the market for a new keyboard and I'm leaning towards the Phantom X. A friend of mine has the "S" and sometimes we co-produce tracks. He was told that the "X" & "S" are not "compatable" because they use different media types for saving projects. I want to be able to take tracks from my keyboard and directly import it into this keyboard, but I want the upgraded "X" version.

Are the media types different? Are the two boards compatable in this matter or in the sounds? If not...is the Phantom X really worth the extra money? Do the upgrades make the X a worth having despite the compatability issue.

Is there a media compatability issue at all or did I hear wrong? Let me know! Thanks.

What do you mean by 'media'? The disc format? Are you wanting to import sequences, patches, samples?

You might just have to do some manual stuff like load up the samples and midi sequence seperately.

Yeah...the disc format.

I'm sure you'll be able to get data into the other keyboard but it depends on what you are trying to do. They couldn't possibly work seamlessly because the different keyboards will have different sounds and features. You should be able to transfer sequences and then just pick the sounds you want to use on the other keyboard.

Actually, they're much more compatible then you might think. With exception to the *new* sounds, the X has all the same sounds that the S has. The X incorporates a PC Card slot instead of the media card that the S uses. An easy way out would be to connect both to a standard USB connection on a computer. Upload data to/from the Fantom in question via USB.

Hope this helps. Hope it's right :) j/k
