Has anyone done this or heard of it?
I have two of these old, beautiful handmade Direct Boxes I "inherited".
They are real sturdy, I think they must have been made in the late 70's, they have that look.
Anyway, they're both fried! I was using one to send Acoustic Guitar via pickup into the mixer for live playing, and it worked for several months. I think phantom was off because we weren't using condensers. Then it stopped working, I assume because we hooked up phantom power.
The other one was at home, and I didn't use it for a long time. Then I forgot about the phantom thing and fried it too.
I want to repair them, cause they're cool looking if for nothing else, but I don't know what I'm looking at inside, or what to replace.
I can solder fairly well, but I don't really know where to start.
I'd like to post a pic if I can figure out how.
Anyway, be careful with those old Direct Boxes!!
