what are the differnces between these to kick drums.. they're both made by shure....and i want to see if they give different sounds because i have no way of testing them my self......also, just for sh*ts and giggles, Carvin...sells a kcik mic for $60....for the money and compared to the other 2 how is it??? is it total crap or is it semi- good?? also, what is a good frequency response for a bass drum?

One is a beginner/fun recording mic and one is a professional quality studio mic. That doesnt mean you cant get a good sound out of the PG, but there will be a difference.

You get what you pay for

The PG series is aimed more towards working live drummers. The PG52 has gotten some pretty good reviews, one saying that it held its own against an AKG D112. As always, don't base something just off of a review.

If you mess around over in the Microphone forum, you will quickly learn that published frequency responses generally don't mean jack squat. Any mic marketed as a "Kick Drum Mic" will more times than not have a "tailored" response, ie, boosted lows and highs.

Weird...I got my PG56's from a guy who got them in the kit with the PG52. I know that he regularly substitutes the PG for his D112. Just the sound different people go for I guess.

:)

yeah I was exagerating a little actually.. the PG is just great..
