A few thoughts on DigitalSpace's plans and hosting in general
The first thing that came to mind with DigitalSpace's $3 plan was "monthly transfer limit". Both the $3 and $7 packages have a 2.5GB monthly transfer limit. This isn't that bad, as it will allow users approximately 600-800 downloads in a month (or about 20-25 per day), assuming your .mp3 file is the standard 3-4MB in size.
However, if you have larger or multiple mp3's, or a lot of downloads, your download traffic will most likely increase, and you may run over your limit before the end of the month. This could cause downloads to no longer work for the month, or cost you a premium charge per MB for further downloads in the month. And, if you regularly run over the limit, the service may either pressure you to upgrade, or even upgrade you automatically. Make sure to find out what DigitalSpace's policies are regarding this.
A quick note on "unlimited" download capacity and space; though a vendor may advertise this, if your download traffic or disk usage is too high, they may try to get you to switch to an alternate hosting option. Read the fine print and, more importantly, check with the company to find out
exactly what "unlimited" means.
The second thing that came to mind with the DigitalSpace $3 plan is that 10MB is not a lot of space to store mp3's. You will get two, maybe three on the site, with the rest of the space used for graphics, pages, etc. The $7 50MB plan has better space, but the download capacity is still limited (read above).
Finally, if you go with DigitalSpace's $3 account, you will have to pay the entire year in advance. Granted, this is only $36, but if you aren't happy with the service, you're still out the money, plus whatever your new hosting company charges. (10 days is not a lot of time to evaluate a web service - many give you 30)
DigitalSpace's $7 account is billed quarterly, and their "Ultimate" $25 plan is billed monthly. If you pay the entire year in advance on the $7 or $25 plan, they give you a discount (10%), which is a standard practice for web hosting services (many advertise the lower price as their "monthly" rate).
It seems that the best use for the $3 package would be hosting for band pics, gig info, bios and other promotional pages, with a link to a service like mp3.com for the music itself (a fairly common way of doing things). Assuming that's what you use it for, it isn't a bad deal.
Shakes - I noticed the "Music" link at
http://www.codyyoung.com brings up a static image page and a window with your mp3.com page. Did phpwebhosting.com require you to move your files?
