Peluso 22 47 Sample, Listen!

Hi everyone,

I have finally had a chance to try out the Peluso 22 47 microphone, so rather than try to explain how it sounds, here is a Jim Croce song I recorded in my living room this evening.

The signal chain is: (Vocals 2247)(Guitar AT4033)--->Avalon AD2022 preamp--->E-MU 1212m sound card

I panned the guitar to the left and the vocals to the right so you can hear it a bit better. I just gave it a tad bit of reverb, no eq

the vocals are a bit nasaly hehe, but the recording itself sounds awesome! the panning is kind of annoying though. but good sound from both mics.

I was just trying to give a sample using this mic, many have been wondering how it sounds.

I think the most important thing is the realism of the sound. Nothing personal Rick, but the nasality may just be the voice. The fact that the mic captures it cleanly is a testament to whether the mic is good or not. It doesn't seem to color it much. Sounds fine to me. The 22 47 isn't touted as being a copy of a U47, but remenisant of the style of sound. Probably pretty versatile!

yeah. when i said the vocals were nasaly, i was talking just about the singer's voice, not the sound of the mic. and i didn't mean it as a put-down. the fact that the mic gives this kind of accurate details is awesome.

I think that acoustic sounds really beautiful. It's got this sound that is like magical. Love it. Better than probably any acoustic clip I've heard on these forums.

Rick, it really sounds good. How did you set up the mic placement on both the guitar and vocals?

I set the guitar mic and vocal mic about 12 inches out from my mouth and 14th fret. I used my Taylor 414 guitar. I will post other comparisons soon, but all I have to use for comparison is the AT4033 and the SP C1.
