Holy Shit man, Rick answers more questions than anyone i know in these forums. He's the most helpful guy on here. He may not be an expert like Ethan, etc. but he knows his stuff. He has taught me most of the stuff i know about acoustics and studio building, and has helped so many others. The reason his post count is so high is 'cause of all the help, and just a lil bit of angry comments.

He gets worked up when people accuse him of things he ain't, when people are generally being disrespectful arseholes, and when he doesn't get his STICKIES!!!

Lee

Allright, I apologize for that then, and thank him for his sharing of knowledge. I just seem to remember reading quite a few posts by him putting people down, maybe I'm mistaken, and if I am, I'm sorry. He is being an asshole in this thread though, and I called him out on it. I'm not sorry for that.

If you go to a job interview and talk like that good luck unless it's McDonnalds

Talking with broken words and skipped letters, even if what you say is smart, well thought out, and important, it makes you look like you don't know what the fuck is going on.

This has NOTHING to do with racism and stereotypes, I don't know what race this guy is and I can careless.

Why present yourself to be ignorant?

And plus, if you're going to post information about anything on the internet, be prepared to be analyzed/prodded/flammed/stereotyped/"hated on".

Thanks for this response. Rick is a great guy, he just doesn't have time for people who get on his nerves. He's a great guy to know. If you need advice on anything he knows about, he'll help. I've had my run-ins with him in the past too. I thought of him the exact way that you do, but I realised that he's giving away a hell of a lot of good advice for nothing. He's just here to help people. He should be away working on his studio, but he's not. He's here helping people with theirs. Checking up to see if everything's going alright etc. He's a good guy, with not a lot of patience :D but is that really a bad thing?

This guy talks in slang manner, and that's fine. But some of us do struggle a bit with what he's saying. We just want to be able to understand so we can help. If he talks legibly we will be able to help him. If not, we can't, and we're wasting our own time trying to get the gist of what he's saying.

Look, I've got nothing against anyone. Blacks, whites, Asian, Religious, non-religious, rich, poor, whoever. I don't care if you've grown up in a ghetto, or a billion$£(whatever) lifestyle. You can speak whatever way you want, but if you want something from me, and i can't understand you, the least you can do is help me out.

I, Rick, and most, if not all, the other guys/gals in here are here to learn, and to help others. We wanna help, but if someone makes it difficult for us to help them, then fuck 'em. If they don't want our help don't come here. If they do, then at least help us help you.

wow i didnt know my closet mic booth thread was going to turn into a giant internet spelling vs correct spelling debate

if you read my posts i dont really talk in slang, tha only slang word i used in here was spit,

cause honestly i never knew readin somthin that was abriviated or whatever was so hard for some people to read, cause i could just read whatever strait thru even when people use the number 3 instead of the letter e, which i find is going out of their way to spell dumb

but back to the hard to understand thing, i can read the internet grammer and regular grammer both the same way n i just thought everyone else could, but i guess some people have trouble reading things with very little grammatical errors...

check this out:

it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae...

cambridge university did a study on how the mind reads words n they found out that the mind doesnt interpret every single letter just the first and last letter,

i dont know what this specifically hasto do with our disscussion but i found it interesting that almost every person can clearly read the aformentioned sentence n yet some cant read correctly spelled words with minor spelling errors

oh n for the record im not black im a young urban hispanic...

n also incase you cant read tha sentence above it was

it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place

real talk tho i usto hella hate cats that type tha way im typing now, now i end up doin it without even noticing, oh well i dont really find it hard to read n plud i dont actually write like this in tha real world so, meh...
I understand most of this, n the minor errors don't matter so much, but can be easily sorted. When i notice that I've made a load of grammatical errors, I sort them so that people udnerstan what I'm saying. But "real talk tho i usto hella hate cats that type tha way" needs translation. Why not just say "I used to really hate people who type that way." Saves confusion and i don't know where the "real talk tho" fits in. Just cause you don't find it hard to read doesn't mean that we don't. We're not all from where you're from, we're not even all from America.

damn, i didnt even trip off that earlier,

seriously speaking, i strongly dislike people who typed the way im typing now....

yeah i guess i gotta remember that im not talkin to someone down tha street from me, but somone on tha other side of earth...

Exactly. Hope everything goes well for you, and I'd suggest replacing that egg crate with at least a duvet, or if you've got some cash, a rigid fiberglass absorption panel(s).

Ohsh1rt, is that you leaving me all that explicit homophobic / rascist neg. rep? I know at your age you're probably confused about your sexuallity. Don't worry, you can say you're straight your whole life and still get some cock on the side, just ask Ted Haggard.

fiberglass absorption panel isn't slang, it is the correct way to describe it. It is, however, acoustic jargon. Fiberglass is the fluffy stuff used to insulate, in attics etc, rigid fiberglass is a thick amount of this stuff compressed so it is denser and more rigid, and a rigid fiberglass absorption panel is this stuff built to be used to absorb sound.

I forgot what I said completely, but I did leave you some. At least I man up to it unlike most people who leave negitive rep... such as the person who left me some. Not that it's important, it's a green bar.

Come on now, I know being in the Central Valley sucks and all, but don't go giving the Bay Area a bad name by saying Sacramento is part of it. If you lived in Vacaville or Fairfield you could get away with saying you are part of the Bay Area, shit most people might be willing to give you Dixon if they are in a good mood, any farther east than that.... sorry, bro. Central Valley.

Geography lesson for the day. :)

Peace.
