I have a 40wt Fender BFSR clone. I also have a Fulldrive2,Ts-9 and a Boss CS-3.I am looking at a Sparkledrive , Soulbender and a H&K Tubeman.Could I get some help on the best set up for a Bloomfield-Richard-Allman-SRV type tone? I am cofused with all this stuff- I had a Ts-9 and bought a FD2 for overdrive. Was told at store that Ts-9 is a distortion pedal. Will the H&K tubeman do it all?H&K and FD2? Soulbender and FD2?Any help with the best combo of these pedals and (in what order from guitar to amp)(no FXloop) would be greatly appreciated!!!!! thanks for the help. mikeg

Thanks a lot for all your help dave- it really cleared things up....

Go find something useful to do-

If you want to sound like Stevie Ray, all you need is the TS-9.

And a strat with really heavy strings.

And 4 or 5 different tube amps with your signal split to all of them.

And incredible talent

Hey I was being serious. Check this link out www.analogman.com he does mod's on the newer tube screamers to make them sound like the 808's. And then get you a great tube amp and your good to go:) .

consider paying more attention to the two ends of the signal chain:

Pickups and Speakers.

the pickup choice matters a lot. you don't necessarily have to have a strat to get close. if you haven't already, spend some time looking at pickups. do the same with Speaker selection. you'll never get there without a close similarity in pickups and speakers. also, SRV did use heavy gauge strings.

these two will do more to colour the sound and get you closer than just about anything else.

theres a monthly Journal called The ToneQuest that may have already covered this issue (SRV's tone and setup). you may be able to get the back issue.
