I know there are pedals and effects out the waazu for electric guitar, but are there any made just for bass? im not talkin about those $500 jobs, but, a cheap one that will give me some thing to play with. Just like a different sound. Its christmas time, so im making my list, and checking it twice. so far i got GHS Boomers on it, a new pick guard, and some new nobs, but.....the sound....any pedals made for a bass?

What about an overdrive. EBS Multidrive or Sansamp Bassdriver DI are GREAT. They can be used all the time to get that extra touch on the sound or as screaming distortions. Both are quite costy, but there are other brands too.

BOSS has quite a few pedals just for bass. If you like the effect, the Bass Chorus is quite a nice pedal, as is the Bass Flanger (isn't made anymore, will have to buy used). The Limiter/Enhancer is said to be quite nica as well, but my favourite is definitely the OC-2. It just rocks. The Bass Overdrive, however, isn't that nice, albeit usable.

This one is more of a guitar pedal but I have used it and it is a lot of FUN! I am talking about the DOD Envelope Filter (basically an autowah) (little green pedal) I have not been able to find a bass pedal (besides the $300 to $400 Mutron) that sounds that funky!

I'll second Clif's suggestion of an envelope filter. Very funky fun sound for bass. I also have a DOD and it sounds something like a musical fart, if that makes any sense.

heh heh

Ya it kinda does sound like a fart, a funky fart that is. My only gripe with it is that some of my basses with too high of out put distort it a little and since it is not made for bass some of your low end will be cut out it still rules though:)

DOD is a great env filter, don't own one, but want to.
I once bought this Electro-Harmonix BassBalls filter, which kinda sucked, but last year I opened the thing, found two trim pots and *KAZAA(lite :) )* it went from GuitarBalls to BassBalls !

Next to that: Korg G5 Bass Synth (it seems the Korg synth sounds great too) and my trusted old Boss ME-8B, sounds good when used with precaution.

the muff pedal is outstanding. Especially for recording.

I learned how to get that full sounding guitar distortion I've always wanted...with my bass player using the muff. Not something you want to use all the time but just for that special moment...kinda like when you need the "this one goes to 11" amp.

Anything you can use on guitar, you can use on a bass.
Although I don't know why you want to put a bass through any effects anyway. To me it makes it sound bad.

I tend to use effects very sparingly in fact in every band situation I use no effects, it is pretty much on my own that I can enjoy these things. I have not found a way to integrate them into a band situation yet. You have to be tricky..
