Peavey is not making the VMP-2 anymore right? Where is the best place to look for one used? How much it worth?

keep your eyes locked on ebay and dont pay over $700

one went for $600 two days ago with "buy it now", less than 6 hours after being listed. The bastard beat me to it.

I don't know where you got the idea they're not making it any more. Here's a link to the info on the Peavey website :

Any authorized Peavey dealer should be able to order one for you (not many keep them in stock) . List price is $999. Any decent dealer should give you at least a 20% discount, especially if you pay up front. The VMP-2 is, IMHO, the best value in a sub-$1000 2 channel mic preamp.(No, I don't work for them, but I've owned one for several years.)

Well, if you look at the products list, you won't be able to find it there... :)
Maybe that's a reason to think they're not making it anymore.

Nice to see peavey get some good speak!

Nobody ever speaks of them much for rack gear. I own many of there products from years past when I was in tight with a dealer. If I had it to do over I would more than likely swap some out, but the stuff seems to be indistructable. takes a licken and keeps on sounding the same. I think they tend to under rate power handling on some of thier products for warranty sake.

I just saw a new one the other day at Gelb music in Redwood City, Ca. I think it was around $600. Those really are great pre's.
Cheers, RD

I called around to some local Peavey dealers and they told me the VMP-2 is NOT being made any more, but that there are still some in stock. I was offered a discount as DigitMus mentioned and ordered one. I got it for $720, which in my book is much better than saving a hundred bucks getting it used on Ebay. From everything I've read, I can't wait to hear this thing!

If they are not making them, why are they still on the Web site. A call to Peavey should settle this debate.

Well, someone call then, and report back. Would be a shame to lose a cheapie that great.

I called Peavey, they are not making them now because they have a bunch on the shelves. They make them in lots as need arises. They intend to continue this manufacturing process into the future. There will be VMP2's for a while. I bought one yesterday and have used it on vocals only with a TLM103. YIKES!! I sound pretty good!

Hey Dan,

I bought it in San Diego at a place called Professional Sound and Audio. I think they are Prosound.com. They have only one left by the way.

finally found one.

If everything goes good, I should have that baby next week.
