Does anyone have any experience with the StudioMix? I'm tired of trying to meet everyones schedule (studio). Ready to set up my own home studio so I might as well jump into full digital. FYI Cakewalk is offering free the new Pro Audio version 9 (MSRP $429) to purchasers of the StudioMix if purchased by 12/31/99. They've added several new features including scrubbing. Also many more soundboards will be compatable since they got around the manufacturers soundboard drivers. Minimum processor speed is 300MHz for version 9 versus 133MHz for version 8.
I have experience with it. Infact, I've been using one record my first CD.
I'm using Pro Audio 8 with it. No complaints so far. I don't use the mixer that
is built in, however. I use an external mixer. If you're serious about doing
real work on the PAW you really need one. What questions did you have
about the StudioMix?
What limitations will I experience using the StudioMix mixer rather than an outboard mixer? I will mainly be recording voice to pre-recorded background tracks (cassette)and mixing down to cassette or CD. Can you recommend a good vocal mic (less than $400) that seems to do well with the StudioMix? I'm also looking at the Audix CX-111 mic.
