Perloid pickguard on a 3-tone strat? Do you think this would be ugly. I am trying to find pics of this combo but have failed. Thanks!

I like it. I used to have pics of one of mine like that, but Ive lost all of them. I like the stock w/b/w just about as much, though. Ive never been a fan of black on sb ala SRV.

The w/b/w is what I have now and I agree with you.. I have never liked the black guard on the sunburst. I may just try the pearloid anyway. It is cheap mod.. LOL Thanks H2H!

How about

To tell the truth, I haven't found any color where a black guard looks better than the traditional white white. (a natural wood finish is close...but I still prefer white)
Im not a fan of black guards

I have a three tone sunburst that I am thinking of putting a black guard on and leaving all the pups, knobs, etc still white... the "tuxedo" look like gilmore's guitar (except his is all black, cept the electronics). Actually, it is a roland ready strat.

i have a b/w/b guard on my black strat, and i don't think it looks so bad. i know it's not what ur looking for but i'll post a pic anyway for the hell of it haha

Nice strat bro.

"Black is beautiful" on those natural finished ash bodies

wow..that is one of the best natural colored strats I have ever seen. Makes the maple neck look great

Well I finally got around to taking a pic of my 50th Ann. strat w/ pearloid picguard... :o

Here it is...

How do you get a pic to show up on the thread anyway???

looks pretty nice, actually, ...the color of the pups contrasting being a different white too. Hey...who stole one of the knobs off the guitar!!??? :D :D

scoll down a little further to add attachments....there are some instructions, etc

Hmmm.... I usually just copy the pic from photobucket and past it with other BB's and it shows up ......automatically puts the "" tags on it...??

Lets try this..

Here's the deal with my strat....

It originally came with the S-1 switching and the cobalt noisless. Well that's a pretty versitial set up, but not what I was looking for as I had my eye's on some Lindy Fralin Vintage Hots :) So I bought them, and then had the pickguard made through Warmoth. I had them just cut the slot and hole for the 5 way and leave the rest solid since I wanted a "custom" knob placement.

I basically have just one volume knob (Closest to the strings/bridge) and one Blend knob - This knob blends in either the bridge or neck pickup on positions 1&2, and 4&5. This makes for some great tonal combinations!! Now here's where things get tricky!.......

I purchased the Lindy's pre-wired from ACME Guitar works ( http://www.acmeguitarworks.com/index.aspx ) and in the conversations I had with them about only using a two knob set up, they strongly recomended not removing the tone pot since even it it's turned all the way up, it still effects the tone of the guitar. So here's what I did.....I had them wire in the tone pot, but I put it in the position of where the volume pot would normally be, then I put the actual volume pot in the middle, and then the blend pot on the bottom........but you say "I only see two knobs/pots???" :D

I turned the tone pot all the way up and cut the shaft off of it. I then wrapped it in electrical tape and "hid" it under the pickguard.

Why did I do all of this??? In a nut shell, I've always had a problem of "bumping" the volume pot during playing and inadvertently lowering the volume a bit. This used to bug me to no end! So know I've got plenty of room between the bridge and the first knob to keep me from doing any "bumping"! :)

I've also done one of my other guitars like this as well:

wow...that guitar is incredible looking...especially with those pearl knobs. I didn't think how you might use those knobs first time I saw them, but now I see. What a looker!!

I have never smacked my volume knob, but I know many players do. Very nice solution you arrived at.

How do you like the Lindy's? kinda pricey...but hey, it is only $$$.
