Hey, guys

Do you know of any programs that will monitor the temperture of my CPU, mobo and so on for me without going into the bios? I've recently put my PC into the closet with blanket hanging over it, of course I left some room for air to flow in and out of the closet. So, I need to make sure I don't fry anything while I'm working...

Any program you can think of? preferably free or at least cheap.

thanks

Al

Yep.

Search on google for "SISoft Sandra". You can monitor/test just about any part of your computer's hardware. It also has the option of sticking your CPU/case temp down in the toolbar for visibility.

Best of all it's FREE!

thanks, man! I downloaded the standard version, and it seems to have lots of functions, I mean LOTS! Now....I have no idea what to do with it... I've played with it for several mins and can't find my CPU temperture anywhere. Can you give me some pointer here??

thanks, man

whoops...

Go with Bgavin's suggestion. Both programs do said task but I think that I was actually thinking of motherboard monitor. Probably more suited to what you're talking about.

good luck!

MBM is good. Then get yourself a rheobus, so you can crank down the fans when it's time to record...

Motherboard Monitor works very well for me, and in my client's machines.

Link to MBM

ditto MBM, fab program, many alarm settings, and free...

run debug mode first so the program can find all the mianboards temp, volt, etc sensor's...

just a thought...

OK...so I downloaded Motherboard Monitor and it says my CPU diode temp is 192 celcius. How can that be?

SO I checked with SiSoft Sandra....same thing.

Shit. I didn't even know my machine would RUN if it were so hot.

Just checked my BIOS...it said 47 c

What gives?

yawn, sheesh, it's to early....zzZ zzZ leave your system specs and i'll get back with you, 47c won't kill anything but is a tad high, maybe....

excuse... sleepy

zzzz...zz...z...

From the Motherboard Monitor homepage:

I made a pretty silly error in the 5.3.5.0 mbm.dll for all VIA686 temp sensors, you will get totally wrong values, I have updated the full install to mbm 5.3.5.1.

maybe that's why.

you guys are awsome! I'm running a4 36/31, looks like I'm in good shape:)

thanks alot

one last question...

what's the ideal temperture for the case and CPU? Mine cpu is staying between 31-40's, sometimes 50. When should I start worrying??

thanks

I'd say when the heatsink starts to melt, it's time to remove a blanket or two

well, that sounds about right...but, I am not planning on opening up my computer every 5 mins and check if anything is melting inside...

Can someone give me like a rough range where things can get dangerous??

If you have a fairly new PC, it will turn off when things get dangerous. However, I'd look into upping your cooling if your temps start to hit 60 C. I know you can go higher than that safely, but that's the point at which I might upgrade my processor cooling, or add a fan. Also, make sure you have a fan or two bringing air into the case, and a fan or two taking air out of the case.

30-40C are excellent temps, and you're fine there.

you're fine right now...I'd say maybe 60 check into things. You can set alarms in MOBO monitor if you dont want to keep checking up on it. You should also be able to set alarms in BIOS to go off at certain temps if you dont want to keep motherboard monitor running in your system tray (save resources!)...
