I have built a studio in my house and have put the pc in the closet. Is there a way to get the recording program to start when I am sitting behind the drum set or playing guitar. I use Acid Pro and Mixcraft.
I know there has to be another way other than me hitting record and trying to get behind the drums etc.

there are lots of long chrod options. and wireless will work, but hten again, you have a monitor still tield through a cabel to the closet.

i have a couple PCs that i use a KVM switch to go back and forth between, basically a box with cables that allows you to control two (or more) PC boxes through one keyboard/monitor setup. One edvanatage is that the cabled that connect the little box arre fairly long, so i can put my monitor, keyboard and mouse a good distance away from the PC, You might find somehting similliar or jstu get some longer cabling.

If you keep your PC in a closet, it might be a good idea to keep an eye ont he temp in there, the PCs can heat up a small space pretty well, and they tend to brun themselves up when not given the chance to cool down.

Daav .

I dont keep the pc in the closet all the time, it is a laptop. So when i am not working the office I move it to the jam room. I keep the monitors and my m-audio preamp in all the time. But that is a good idea to keep and eye on the temp.

Most sequencers allow you to designate a MIDI key hit as a command function.

You can take a dirt-cheap MIDI keyboard as use it to hit Record, Play, Stop, etc.
(I use N-Track Studio and have a couple of upper keys - keys that I never hit anyway- of my 88-key keyboard to command the sequencer.)
