I'm putting together a dirt simple recording rig using an old verson of Adobe Audition (which came with an Adobe media suite I bought years ago), and I was looking for a way to create drum tracks that can be imported as a .WAV files into one of the Adobe tracks. There are quite a lot of good options in the >$200 range, so I was looking at PC Drummer as an alternative (me being the cheapskate that I am!)
Some of the earlier board posts on PC Drummer suggest that it's okay, but not great. Can anyone give any specifics about what they DIDN'T like, as well as what they do like about PCD? Do any of these have to do with its .WAV export capabilities? Has anyone had a chance to compare PC Drummer 5 with it's earlier versions? Apparently there used to be a basic and a pro version, but that's not the case now, and I'd be curious to know if there have been any improvements.
So far, I myself have found the demo to be fairly easy to work out, but of course the things I WANT it to do are only available in the full version. Plus there's only a limited number of sounds in the demo--I'd like to know how much better the sounds are in the full version.
I was also wondering if anyone had any comments, good or bad, about the add ons, such as the Studio Kit ($10).
At $50, PCD seems like a pretty good deal for someone who just wants to get a basic drum track going (and doesn't have 60 GB of free HD space!). But, as they say you get what you pay for too.
