I have a Peavey Mark III Series Mixing Console & a Yamaha Md8 8 track recorder. The Mark III is a 12 channel mixer. Each channel has a Post Send & Return, and a Pre Send & Return. My 1st question is can I run my compressor into one of the Send & Returns, & then with a patch cord send the signal from the other Send into a channel (track) of the MD8 recorder to record it? If I can which do I use for the compressor, Pre Send & Return, or Post Send & Return? I'm really trying to get it set up so all of my signals (instruments, mics...) go through the mixer first with compression, and then into the recorder. Any help what so ever would be greatly appreciated . Thanks!!

If you want the compression on the recording, you'll use the "pre" insert for the compressor, and the "post" send to the recorder.
