Okay,

Here's one for the "stupid question" file.
I have Event 8s powered by a Delta 1010 that I use with my Mac G4 and Cubase software.
However, I've heard that you should listen to your mix through various number of sources, such as a boom box, car CD player, home stereo, etc., in order to get a gauge as to how well your mix sounds. The theory being that it should sound good no matter the sound source.
I have a basic 100 watt home stereo system and want buy passive monitors. I know very little about home stereo monitors (speakers) and need some help in choosing a pair. I'm not looking for expensive passive monitors. I want a pair of average monitors so I can get an idea how the mix would sound in your average home stereo system

Thank you.

I dont know how well the events perform, but monitors for recording are designed to do as you say. A flat response (no color) to give a true representation of the mix so that when its played thru other consumer systems it should sound the same consistantly. I tend to make at least one coaster to check it out on my home stereo, my daughters boom box and a buddies home system...although he tends to beef of the bass to much:eek:

Pretty much any home stereo speaker will work great. If you learn your monitors good you generally wont have to worry about checking them on all the different sound sources (but its a good idea to check anyway).
