OK guys, here's a reply I got from a Logic Forum:

@Stealthtech:

You have 2 HDs. That's fine: reserve one for all your audio-files and samples.
On the other one, you should create 3-4 partitions:
1) multimedia OS
2) music OS - don't forget: no printer, modem, scanner, internet, AntiVirus,... (deactivate in system-control all the unnecessary hardware-components)
3) a partition only for the swap-file of your audio-OS (the swap-file size should have double size of physical RAM, in your case 512MB)
4)if you don'T want to use your audiofiles-HD for data exchange between the two OSs, you should create a 4th partition that is visible to both OS. On this small partition, you can store files, that you want to transfer from one OS to another (for example music tutorials, tools, drivers, samples downloaded from internet and needed on the music-OS).
Important:
make the partition of the music-OS invisible for the multimedia-OS: if it's infected by a virus, than the audio-OS is safe. If possible, also disable in the multimedia-OS the IDE channel to which the audio-files HD is connected. So it's not possible to access this HD from the multimedia-OS (-> need 4th partition for data exchange between the two OS)

Powerquest's PartitionMagic & BootMagic lets you make all the changes you need, without reinstalling.

My computer was infected by viruses several times (4-5 times) but at the worst case, i only had to reinstall the multimedia-OS.

'Credibility'

I'm not watching the polls... sorry. I'm just one of the thousands of members on this BBS and one of the millions on the internet.

Anyway.

I was just joking with Slack and you. But , I guess the humor gets lost fast.

Using a single OS may work fine for some, maybe most. I do my recording on the OS that I also surf the web with, video game, etc. I havn't run into problems.

This is one example of why I dual boot. I'm using two different versions of Nuendo. I started a project with a customer using 1.2. I dedicate an OS boot to him, I don't have to worry about it getting messed up, and can continue using version 1.2. The other OS uses version 1.5 (my projects). 1.5 does not properly import 1.2 projects.

If, heaven forbid. One of my OS's went down (It happens, even in W2K), I have some recourse, I can uninstall certain app's from the working OS and install whatever is needed, faster.

I like to try out plug-in's, other audio product demo's etc. I do that on MY partition, not the partition I use for other people.

Call it piece of mind (great Boston song), or paranoia. Whichever.

But, either way. I find it useful. Not looking for converts here, do as you please.

Sorry, I don't pick up on humor easily. :D

Ayways, responding to this post, I have had many different versions of software running on the same os.

At one point I had PA9, Sonar and HS2002 all installed at the same time. If have also had multiple versions of other software (Premiere, Photoshop, AutoCAD...) on the same OS and never had any trouble either.
