WTF! This is at least your fourth edit on this comment! From "The singer can't sing" to "the mix is so thin I can't fix it" to "the song sounds wrong, especially the bass" to "your guitar solo sucks ass". :D Are you butthurt? I'm still not listening to yours. :D

The solo was my favorite part. If for some reason I had to record something that needed to sound as pro as possible and it had a guitar solo in it, I'd probably hit you up to do it for me. I'm quite sure God doesn't want me doing solos, all of His earthly signs point to this.

On the contrary, my solo was done the same way as your solos are done. One picks a note and strives to produce the most atonal, visceral and discordant performance that doesn't actually blow. That's how solos should be. Widdly-widdly proficient guitar players will burn in hell for all time, because they've missed the point. They've failed to communicate, except with anally-retentive dickheads. :D

I'm going to remember you said that. Wait until you hear one of mine. :)

I've heard some of yours, that's why I draw the comparison!

One day, I'm going to bury Yngwie Malmsteen up to the neck in a Fire Ants' nest, all smeared in molasses, for crimes against the electric guitar. Then all the massed guitarists of punk, post punk, indie, grunge and generally "alternative" rock bands can take it in turn to sluice the swarming insects from his face with streams of fetid urine.

Sorry, I got lost in a reverie of wish-fulfilment, there.

I agree, ok!

But....Sorry my English is too poor to defend me. I have to accept it as it is now!
I hope you soothe up now and 're not angry with me

9 strings, I'm not angry with you. :D My first post was a joke, perhaps lost in the translation. When I saw the title keywords "metal" "flamenco" and "shred", I just thought to myself "I'm not clicking on that" because it's a list of most things I don't like in music. :D

I have no personal bad feelings towards you at all. :thumbs up:

puh thank you,
Really what I wanted so I do not need to learn better English , something not happen again ! I sometimes worse and then I go polter , thank you anyway!

If you keep beating up on foreigners like this, Bubba, I'm going to think you started listening to Cock Sparrer! :)

They need telling. There are no easy rides in this world, except those that have "you suck" banners decking out your Final Destination. :D

I realize I'm late to the party, but I wanted to compliment you on your work here, VERY nice. I have this album and yet rarely have listened to it, so I cannot comment on accuracy. I was impressed with the texture, the sound of the driven guitars are so satisfying when they arrive and the leaden bass feels like it's holding down a over-inflated zeppelin of a mix at times. It seemed a little uneven mix-wise in some parts, mostly the bass seemed to have some varying presence, but like I said I don't know where you wanted it. The instrument tone choices (was that a flanger on guitar?), the mix and the playing created moods and mood changes that seemed real. I also agree with you about guitar playing, and liked your dirty imperfection. I have Malmsteen tied up in the basement right now, if you bring the fire ants I'll supply the beer.

Damn, you aren't ambitious, are you? This tune is really difficult. Listened to the second one. I think I'd turn the vocal up 2 or 3 dB and smack either quite a bit of short delay on it or a short verb or both.

That picking guitar just before the band explodes is a bit dark.

You pretty much nailed the 'falling rain' part - I still want to hear more of the vocal, though. There's just way, way too much distance between the vocal and the drums, for instance.

Calimoose has a great voice for this kind of thing. I wonder if he'd be good at Procul Harum stuff.

Good work. I'm in awe of people who try this kind of thing, let alone pulling it off.

I know I have a blind spot when it comes to mixing my own vocals, but I thought I had the second mix about right, referencing the original track. I suppose you can't account for people's individual preferences, though! I will probably continue fiddling with this song forever - for instance, I ordered an Afuche/Cabasa last night, because it's annoying me that that bit of crucial (to me) percussion is missing. that's £23.00 spent for what will be a looped five-second percussion part. :D

Obsessive? Me? NO WAY!! :D

Thanks very much for all your comments, it makes all the tinkering and obsessing worthwhile! :D I would never have attempted this without my kid's challenge, I thought it was way out of my skill level.

Man, this is a kick ass tune. There is a lot going on in the mix and IMO it call plays off of and complements each other. Fantastic musical ideas. Did I hear a timing issue right before a guitar break? Its pretty syncopated in that part of the song so, it may be intentional. Really good vocal on this too. to me its an epic rock song. Coming up with an epic rock song ain't no easy feat.
Very cool guitar chops too man.

LOL - a man after my own heart... :D

As a bonus, you'll be able to add a bit of shimmy to the Po family Xmas carols.. :laughings:

I'm gonna see if tonight after work I can get some time to have a go at processing the vocals a bit. I'll keep you posted but hopefully it'll do the rest of your mix justice, as I just feel the vox doesn't stand up to the instrumentals

I'm having horrible issues with Reaper over this project at the moment. It's been running fine on my PC for ages, then last night my PC decided to stop playing it properly. I've added no new plugins or tracks to it but it's just started stuttering and glitching. My Where is my Mind project plays fine, and the Paranoid Android project plays on my wife's laptop. I don't understand.

Nice one. Thanks, Moose. :)

Hey Calimoose's vocals sound really good. I'm still in awe of taking on this project in the first place. Vocals could still come up again on the newer version I think - I'm not generally a fan of vocals sitting right on the top of mixes, but I think there's still some space for these to come up a couple of db's without dominating too much.

I'd also bring down the right panned percussion a couple of notches (is that the afuche/cabasa?) and maybe revisit the claves in a couple of spots where the timing gets a bit loose. And I agree with dobro's comment about one of the guitar parts being a bit boomy before the 'heavy' part.

Other than that, sounding damn good. You got some really nice separation across the stereo field throughout too.

Last night Reaper froze/stuttered on me, all I had was EZD2 running. 2 weeks ago it did it to me a few times for no apparent reason. I had to shutdown and reboot to get it going as it wouldnt' shut down.
