I found a really great price on a Palomino V8 but I don't have the opportunity to test drive it. I played one about a year ago and really liked it. What are your thoughts on this amp as a recording/practice amp? Looking for cleans/classic rock/blues tones. Nothing high gain or anything. Thanks.
I don't know what it is, but 5-watt amplifiers stopped doing it for me years ago. You can't even hear them until you turn them up, and there's no headroom. And the 10" speaker, (or worse, 8" speaker in a Champ) has no low end. The distortion always comes out sounding like a kazoo.
Hey, it has a line out and an FX loop. That's worth something. But it's tough to push a 10" speaker with 5-watts and expect it to sound full, even if the speaker is rated for only 15-watts. Maybe in a mix you can trick it with EQ into sounding full. I'd wait and look for a V18. Much better. But, if you insist, read this; http://www.toneslinger.net/main/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=297:whats-new-in-15&catid=67:benefits and get the most out of the V8.
